Toll System
The toll system that we are using for Butterworth-Kulim Expressway is based on the concept of ‘open toll system'. An open toll system means the expressway's user need to pay a fixed toll charge (based on the class of vehicle) when they enter the toll plaza. The user is free to exit at any junction/interchanges until they reach at the next toll plaza. This system is well-suited for medium traffic volume and short distance journey.
Payment Systems
Our expressway adopts two payment systems, namely manual payment system and Electronic Payment System (EPS). The EPS was introduced to overcome the traffic congestion at the manual lane during the peak hours. There are two options available for EPS users; Touch 'n Go and SmartTAG. The EPS is not just a value added facility but most importantly it increases the plaza's throughput, provides convenience to the users and facilitates traffic movement near the toll plaza. The EPS system also shows our commitment in supporting the government's aspiration to have an integrated Electronic Toll System throughout the highway network in the country.
Toll Fares
Effectively on 1st January 2008, the new toll rates for Butterworth-Kulim Expressway will be imposed accordingly. All toll fares are based on the pre-defined rates agreed between KLBK and the Government.
