BKE is an open toll highway built and operated by Konsortium Lebuhraya Butterworth-Kulim (KLBK) Sdn. Bhd. (a wholly owned subsidiary of PLUS Expressways Berhad)

When was BKE officially open?
BKE was officially opened on 15 November 1996.

How long is the expressway?

BKE is about 17KM long, stretching from Kulim, Kedah to Seberang Perai, Penang.


Does BKE equipped with the Electronic Payment System (EPS) along its expressway?
Yes, BKE equipped with Touch ‘n Go & SmartTAG facilities at both Kubang Semang and Lunas Toll Plaza.

How many interchanges does BKE have?
There are total of five (5) interchanges. The location as follows; Permatang Pauh Interchange (KM 5.74), Permatang Nibong Interchange (KM 10.10), Tasik Mengkuang Interchange (KM13.62), Sg. Seluang Interchange (KM 19.46) & Lunas Interchange (KM 22).

What are the facilities offered by BKE?
The facilities provided at BKE are the Emergency Telephone System (ETS) located at 1KM interval along the expressway, twenty-four (24) hours patrolling team, petrol stations, toilets, surau, and public phones at both bounds as well as the fully integrated Elevated Rest & Service Area.

Does BKE have the ‘reload lanes' for Touch ‘n Go users?
No. But we have P.O.S (Point of Sales) counter at our administrative office. Here, you may buy or reload your Touch ‘n Go cards, SmartTAG registration, card return, and so on.
